“Policies and Agreements”

Payment Guidelines

  1. Each session’s tuition is due in full at the first class of the session. This payment is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  2. To avoid additional online processing fees, tuition can be paid in class via check (in favor of KalashramUSA)/Zelle/Venmo or cash. Please put it in an envelope with student’s full name on the envelope.
  3. There is $30 fees for any returned checks.
  4. Payments made after the second class will incur a $10 late fee.
  5. If your account becomes past due, participation in class/performances will not be allowed and enrollment may be terminated.
  6. Session fees is considered due unless student has officially withdrawn from the program by emailing the office (info@kalashramusa.org).
  7. Tuition refunds will be only given in cases of serious injury or prolonged illness. Request with a doctor’s note must be emailed to the office (info@kalashramusa.org).

Registration Guidelines

  1. Students need to register only once in a year, via the online registration form.
  2. Registration closes after the first class of each session. Late registration will incur $10 late fees.
  3. Teachers reserve the right to determine class placement for each student.
  4. Any changes made during the session, to add, drop or change a class, must be communicated to the office (info@kalashramusa.org).
  5. If you need to drop a class, student should email a withdrawal notice to the office (info@kalashramusa.org) 2 weeks prior to the actual withdrawal date.
  6. It is student/parent/guardian’s responsibility to inform the office (info@kalashramusa.org) if a student’s contact info changes during sessions (change of phone # or email address, etc.).

Communication Guidelines

  1. Any questions/comments – Email (info@kalashramusa.org) or call office at (678-799-1405).
  2. Email is primary means of communication using the email address entered in the registration form. Make sure to mark info@kalashramusa.org and kalashramusa@gmail.com email addresses as safe contacts and not spam.

Schedule Guidelines

  1. KalashramUSA’s school calendar is available online at https://kalashramusa.org/calendar/.
  2. Any changes in schedule can occur 2 weeks in advance of the original planned date.
  3. Emergency cancellations due to teacher’s illness, inclement weather, or any other conditions not in control of the teacher etc., will be communicated via email. Classes cancelled due to emergency (up to 2 classes) will not be rescheduled nor reimbursed.

Class Attendance Policies

  1. Students are expected to attend classes regularly. If a student is planning to miss a class, then the office (info@kalashramusa.org) must be informed. Include the date/time of absence. Makeup classes will not be offered except for sickness.
  2. If a student is sick and will miss class, then please inform (info@kalashramusa.org). If class is missed due to illness, then please consult the teacher for possible makeup class of the same level.
  3. All students should arrive on time for the class. Use restroom before your class. Students should be ready to begin class at the scheduled time after tying ankle bells.
  4. Shoes should be left outside the studio. Children should not be left unattended in the lobby/restroom or hallway.
  5. Late pickups are an inconvenience, and if you are late picking up your child, you will be charged a fee of $1.00 per minute you are late, after 10 minutes of the end of class.

Class Attire Policies

  1. Male students are expected to wear Kurta (shirt) and Churidaar (pants). Female students are expected to wear Kameez (shirt) and Salwar/Churidaar (Pants) along with Dupatta.
  2. Hair must be off the face, and long hair must be neatly tied.
  3. Each student must wear a set of “ghungroo” or ankle bells. Ghungroo is sacred to the Indian dance and should not be worn with shoes. Tie the ghungroo before your class. Do not wear socks while dancing; dancers need to be barefoot. Make sure ghungroo are strung on a rope – children need 25 to 75 bells per foot; teens/adults need 100 per foot.

Class Protocol

  1. All students are required to bring a proper notebook to every class (No loose sheets please).
  2. No food or drink allowed during class except for plain water.
  3. To promote focused learning atmosphere, non-dancers (including parents), siblings, and friends are requested to not attend the class.
  4. Video/audio on any gadget is strictly prohibited.
  5. All music, choreography, technique performed and/or taught by KalashramUSA is COPYRIGHTED and may not be performed, taught, recorded, transmitted electronically or stored without the Artistic Director’s knowledge and written consent. Violations of this policy can result in enrollment termination and other repercussions.

Annual Evaluation

  1. Annual formal evaluation will be provided based on 1) Attendance, 2) Written evaluation, 3) Technique testing. Informal evaluation will be provided after each session.

Annual Recital

Participation:   

  1. Annual recital is to showcase our student’s progress for the year to the parents, family, and friends. This requires the payment of a costume/recital fee.
  2. Extra rehearsals will be scheduled in advance. Students should arrange their schedules accordingly. Missing rehearsals (other than sickness) may results in the removal of the student from the performance as it will impact the whole group’s performance.
  3. Annual recital participation is dependent on attendance and at teacher’s discretion. Students are encouraged to attend all sessions of the school year. Students joining only the spring session will have limited to no opportunity to perform at the annual recital.

Costumes and Accessories:

    1. Costumes – All dancers need to have costumes decided for their group, with one set of jewelry (Female dancers only), hair items (Female dancers only), and ghungroo.
    2. Jewelry – Kundan set (a necklace, a set of earrings and a tika for forehead) and bangles. Ear rings must have a hook and a back to prevent earrings flying out during performances. Female dancers – Please make sure to wear a Bindi. Male dancers should apply Tikka.
    3. Hair – Female dancers with short hair will need a fake hair bun and a white fake flower garland around the bun.
    4. Makeup –
        1. a. Children need only moisturizer, powder, blush, eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.
        2. b. Youth/adults need:
          1. Moisturizer
          2. Foundation (liquid or cake)
          3. Blush with brush
          4. Loose powder with puff
          5. Eye brow pencil (black)
          6. Eye shadow
          7. Eye liner (black)
          8. Mascara (black)
          9. Lip liner (dark red or deep maroon) (Female dancers only)
          10. Lipstick (maroon) (Female dancers only)

Marketing Release

  1. Student’s pictures and videos may be used in KalashramUSA’s ads, promotional videos, website materials and other marketing methods. These pictures and videos will only be used by KalashramUSA’s marketing purposes only and will not be shared with outside companies or individuals. Please send an email to info@kalashramusa.org if you want to opt out.

Liability Release

      1. For student(s) to participate in KalashramUSA School of Kathak Dance & Performing Arts, while on the premises and property of said Center, the undersigned, for themselves, and/or being the legal and acting guardian of student, acting for themselves and on behalf of the student, release and hold harmless KalashramUSA Company, and its owners, employees, and agents of and from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, that may be sustained by the participant and/or the undersigned, while in or upon the premises upon which the KalashramUSA classes are conducted, or any premises under the control and supervision of KalashramUSA, its owners, officers, employees, or agents or in route to or from any of said premises, or while at any premises or place when activities sponsored by or participated in by KalashramUSA, its owners, officers, agents, or employees.
      2. The undersigned gives permission for KalashramUSA owners, officers, employees, and/or agents to seek emergency medical treatment for the student(s) in the event they are unable to reach any parent or guardian. The undersigned also agrees that they themselves will be responsible for any financial debt incurred by said action.
